It is fully in line with the LIA theme and includes the laboratories of MauroTeixeira, Ana Faria and Vasco Azevedo in Belo Horizonte as well as that of Philippe Langella and Jean-Marc Chatel in Jouy en Josas.

It will allow two missions per year from 10 to 21 days for 4 years for French or Brazilian researchers involved in the project.

Yves Le Loir attended the kick-off meeting the UFMG-PRINT. PRINT (Programa Institucional de Internacionalização) is a CAPES-funded program aimed at giving Brazilian universities more autonomy to develop their own internationalization projects and to set their priorities.

There are about 500 universities in Brazil (federal, state, private universities). All these universities were eligible and could apply to PRINT funding. These applications had to include their internationalization project and strategy over the next 4 years.

After the selections, only 36 universities (including the UFMG) will be funded.

The UFMG will receive 13.75 million R $ / year for 4 years.

Main types of mobility funded will be Sandwich Doctor, Visiting Junior Professor, Visiting Senior Professor.

The financing will be dedicated to outgoing mobility (66%) and incoming mobility (34%). They will also be divided according to the 4 main themes identified by the UFMG: i) Sustainability, risk management and governance (MR$ 2.75 / year); (ii) New technologies and fronts of science (MR$ 4.125 per year); iii) Health and well-being (4.125 MR$ / year); iv) Human Rights (2.75 MR$ / year).

A first call for applications will be launched in February or March 2019.

Y. Le Loir presented the activities of BactInflam IJL. He also presented the INRA Divisions MICA (Microbiology and the Food Chain), AlimH (Human Nutrition and Health) and Santé Animale (Animal Health) that all have ongoing collaborations with UFMG teams.

The International Joint Laboratory (IJL) BactInflam was labeled late 2017 by INRA and the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). This project aims to better understand the involvement of bacteria in the (pro- or anti-inflammatory) processes associated with inflammatory bowel diseases and mastitis, two diseases of major interest in human and animal health.

On 22 and 23 May, a French delegation of nine INRA researchers was present in Belo Horizonte for the kick-off meeting of this five-year project, which is led by Yves Le Loir (UMR STLO Rennes) and Jean-Marc Chatel (MICALIS, Jouy-en-Josas), French coordinators of the LIA.

Sylvie Dequin, Head of Division MICA-INRA (Microbiology of the Food Chain) and Gema Herrero-Corral (Head of International Cooperation MICA-INRA) were part of this delegation, together with Eric Guédon (STLO), Gwénaël Jan (STLO), Philippe Langella (Micalis), Claire Cherbuy (Micalis), Mathias Richard-Lavie (Micalis).
